What is the purpose of this vote?

Each of Berlin’s 12 districts (Bezirke) has a district assembly, or BVV (Bezirksverordnetenversammlung). The BVV is jointly responsible for the autonomous administration and governing of the districts.

Many of the issues discussed in the BVV directly affect everyday life and the quality of life of Berliners in your neighbourhood.

Most BVV meetings are open to the public. Some districts offer a live stream. Further information is available from your district’s BVV. Click here for a list of addresses.

On the same day, 20.09.2026, the elections to the House of Representatives (Abgeordnetenhaus) will also take place. You can only participate in these elections, however, if you have German citizenship.
